When you’re single, your dating experiences are likely to be varied and interesting. There are times when you will wish you didn’t say something, or spill your drink accidentally. These moments can be downright embarrassing, but there are ways to save face and make a valiant return.
Below are just a few of the most common dating disasters, and how to shield against them.
Disaster #1: The Klutz
Many of us get clumsy on dates because our nerves put us on the edge, and often times we can find ourselves so focused on our date that we forget that objects like road signs, people, and lampposts might be ahead of us while we’re lost in conversation. You might walk into something/someone or may just spill a glass of red wine all over your white shirt/dress. Depending on how your date is going, this could be a perfect excuse to go home early. However, if you want to continue the date, make light of the situation and laugh. Making fun of you first will make the entire atmosphere more light-hearted.
Disaster #2: The Drunken Date
Drinking is a normal part of dating, but sometimes it can get out of control. If you find that you and your date are heading down the road of intoxication, then you need to save it before either one of you commits a serious crime. These include regrettable hookups, and verbal diarrhea. The best way to save this is by ending the night, or ceasing the alcoholic consumption by replacing your drinks with water.
Disaster#3: The Opposing Viewpoints
One of the first rules of dating is to never talk about politics and religion. However, you (or your date) might drop a conversation bomb like, “The Republicans make me so angry” and this sparks an entire political debate that could either make or break your night. The secret is not to take the debate personally, rather politely agree to disagree. Say you respect their opinion, and aim to have a well-mannered conversation rather than an angry argument.
