It can be awkward to be the third wheel on a date or in any situation really. You might feel out of place and uncomfortable being the odd man out there are some ways that you as the couple can make them feel a little better about it. Be mindful of how you are making them feel and you will all have a great time.
The first thing you should do is watch the PDA. When a couple is all over each other in front of their friend who is without a partner at the moment it is really uncomfortable. You should make sure that you aren’t baby talking each other and making goo goo eyes the whole time as well. You need to pay your friend the same amount of attention as you are paying each other. Listening to them is a good way to make sure you aren’t leaving them out. Let them share stories and talk about their day instead of you and your partner dominating the conversation.
Avoid inside jokes as you are trying to make your friend feel included not left out. Make sure you aren’t talking about your sex life. You would be surprised what people think is good ice breaking conversation. Don’t assume they want to be set up and tell them about the friend you both know that would be perfect for them. Not all single people want to be set up, and you owe it to them to talk to them about what they are looking for before you throw someone at them. You can annoy someone by asking them when they are going to start dating, or why it didn’t work out with such and such. It makes it seem like you want them to be attached to someone to hang out with you, and that’s just rude.
