No matter whether you’ve been single for years, or if you’re fresh out of a long-term relationship, being alone is an emotional rollercoaster where you are constantly thriving off the euphoria of freedom contrasted with sentimentality of the past. There are times when we can deal with seeing the cute couple holding hands and making out at the park, but then there’s moments where we wish could throw a rock.
If you’re single, then don’t panic. There are far too many reasons for you to be happy.
- 1. Your worth doesn’t come from your relationship
In a society where we are pressured to be hyper-social and fear isolation, it can be very intimidating to proudly exclaim that you are comfortable with your single status. We all have those friends who are in horrible relationships just because they are afraid of being alone. Be glad that this isn’t you. That you are not willing to settle for any less than you deserve. Being solitary for an extended amount of time is a small price to pay for great happiness in the future.
- 2. Do what you love and love will find you
As cliché as it is, you must remember to love yourself first before you can show love. This means working towards your goals, and ambitions. Being single is a time to explore, and test the waters. Once you are doing what you love and what makes you happy, it can be hard not to notice how people are automatically attracted to your positive energy.
- 3. Remember good love is on the way
Letting go of past wounds and having faith in the fact that love will find you is essential. You must forgive and forget in order to become yourself. It’s important to acknowledge the lessons of the past (no matter how painful they might be) in order to grow. We only get stronger by overcoming our weaknesses, and this is crucial on our path of self-discovery.
